Factories in Pakistan not planned, Airbus states

Airbus has denied rumours that it plans to set up factories in Pakistan.

A spokesman for the company confirmed that some aircraft parts are already manufactured there. But he said that the company had no ‘specific’ plans to set up operations in the country.

Pakistan had invited Airbus and Boeing to consider setting up operations there. Federal Minister for Industries, Production & Special Initiatives Jahangir Khan Tareen told the Daily Times that both Airbus and the Boeing Company are negotiating with Pakistani vendors to place orders for the manufacturing of parts of their respective planes.

But he added that he had no information about whether either company is coming to Pakistan to set up factories.....
