Georgia-based manufacturer announces production plans

Tbilaviamsheni, the Tbilisi aircraft factory in Georgia, is to launch production of its own five-seat personal jet aircraft.

The TAM-Jet, which can fly at over 470 knots will be sold worldwide.

It is a five-seat business class jet with a range of 1,500 to 3,000 kilometres and has a base price of US$1.5m.

Spare parts for the jets would be produced at the factory, but the engines will come from the United States, the company said.

TAM chief Pantiko Tordia told Georgian newspaper The Messenger: “The jets of this type are produced for the first time in Georgia and this is very important. The factory will start serial production of jets in the near future.” ....
