Eurocopter looks back to see a tail of the future

Eurocopter is taking a "back to the future" approach as it works to reduce fuselage weight. It is progressing a project focused on developing a composite fuselage rear section - the cone and fenestron - for the EC155.

The project aims to develop significant cycle and cost related savings through existing fibre placement technology. It is building on the knowledge gained from the advances employed in the Airbus A380 rear section, the CASA Espacio Ariane launcher and MTAD A400M aileron support fairings.
