Forecasts show strong growth for business jet makers

Honeywell Aerospace, in its 16th annual Business Aviation Outlook, has forecast deliveries of about 14,000 new business aircraft from 2007 through 2017, generating industry sales worth some US$233 billion.

Rob Wilson, president business and general aviation, says: "2007 marks the fourth year of industry expansion since the last trough in 2003. We forecast deliveries of over 1,000 new business jets for the first time in history, up from 861 in 2006. Deliveries in 2008 are expected to exceed 1,300. Industry growth has moved into unparalleled territory."

Manufacturers confirm Honeywell's findings. Jack Pelton, chairman of Cessna Aircraft Company, says: "Last year, we delivered 307 business jets. This year we expect to deliver 380. Next year, we plan to deliver 470. More than 350 Mustangs are on order with 27 already delivered including two to customers in Europe."

ACJs have reached the milestone of 100 sales. John Leahy, coo customers, says this includes a record of approaching 40 corporate jet sales this year, comprising 29 family aircraft, seven vip widebodies and the first A380 flying palace with four engines to give extra capability on long-haul flights. Lufthansa Technik's Completion Centre has signed two Letters of Commitment with undisclosed customers for the completion of two A330-200s. They will be both outfitted in Hamburg. The first A330 will arrive for completion at the beginning of 2008. The second aircraft is scheduled for the end of 2009.
