Lean methods prove popular for manufacturing firms

Adam Aircraft has confirmed plans to ramp-up production from one aircraft every 14 months to three aircraft per month for the A500, and up to 10-12 per month for the A700, as part of its Make Production Fly high rate production process.

It has brought in new tooling and equipment to streamline the process but needs no extra staff, according to a spokesperson for the company.

The lean methods that comprise the Make Production Fly process form part of Adam Aircraft's decision to move from a development company to a production company.
