Vietnam venture begins for Mitsubishi

The assembly of metal component structures is to begin in Spring 2009 with the launch of a new facility in Hanoi, Vietnam. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will establish MHI Aerospace Vietnam Company Limited to produce commercial aircraft components.

The company also plans to shift part of its metal component assembly work overseas. MHIAV will be located at the Thang Long Industrial Park. Built jointly by a Japanese and Vietnamese company, the facility is to be located approximately 16 km northwest of central Hanoi.

The production plant will measure 19,000 m2 and is expected to cost around US$7 million. Production will start with 50 employees rising to 200 once production is established. In 2009 and 2010, MHIAV will assemble flaps for 2-8 aircraft per month, rising to 10 aircraft in 2011.....
