Arkansas benefits from German investment

Bucking the trend for moving production to China or India, one aircraft manufacturer has decided to open a new facility in the United States. Remos Aircraft, which is based in Pasewalk, Germany, has announced plans to develop its light sport aircraft business by opening an assembly plant in Arkansas.

The European manufacturer plans to lease an existing commercial hangar at Rogers Municipal Airport and move to other facilities as the business grows. The hangar will be used as a finishing centre for the carbon fibre aircraft Remos G-3 with parts manufactured and flown in from Germany.

The center will have three employees initially, but plans to expand up to 15 or more employees by the end of 2008, said Cris Ferguson, the North American service manager for Remos. Remos said it hopes to attr....
