Plans for growth buck the predicted downward trend

Despite worrying predictions of slowing aircraft orders this year, investment and growth is continuing within the aircraft manufacturing sector.

Interest has renewed for developing aircraft manufacturing in Mexico according to an article in the San Diego Union Tribune, which reported a rise in production for Bombardier, Boeing and Airbus. Once a popular choice for US aerospace companies as a low-cost supply centre, stiff competition from even cheaper production centres, the aftermath of 9/11 and red tape all contributed to a decline in the number of contracts being won there. Yet over the next decade, the global commercial fleet is expected to grow to around 27,000, the article said.

Boeing has announced plans to outsource aerospace equipment manufacturing to India's Hindustan Aeronautic....
