Embraer pledges commitment to ‘sustainable growth’

Embraer has been recognised by the Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paolo for two of its environmental projects. In 2006, it recycled around 10 tons, or 80 per cent, of all waste produced at its Sao Jose dos Campos plant. It also decided to substitute conventional paints with a high solvent content for high solid paints containing low solvent levels for all painting jobs at the manufacturing units in Brazil.

Last October, it also pledged to set up an Environmental Strategies and Technologies Office. In its company magazine 'Bandeirante', Embraer said its goal is to grow in a sustainable manner and work hard to better protect the environment.

According to Embraer Support Services Manager Luiz Alberto Ladewig, currently 83.7% of the company's waste, such as wood, plastic, Styro....
