Two-way trade partnerships could develop India's aircraft production industry

Aircraft production may develop further in India if plans by the government win approval from aircraft manufacturers. The Indian government is investigating the possibility of setting up small and medium size aircraft assembly units in the country for assembly of turboprop aircraft with the capacity of 25 to 60 seats.

The Prime Minister's Office convened a meeting at the beginning of April to work out a proposal for EADS. The government could nominate a private company to partner EADS as well as airlines including Jet Airways and Air India.

This coincides with news that a number of US and European aircraft makers plan to submit bids to sell 126 military aircraft to the Indian Air Force. India's trade associations are predicting that the country will buy military hardware and software wor....
