Aero: hinge and door production begins

Czech aircraft manufacturer Aero Vodochody has initiated production of subassemblies for Latecoere Toulouse of France. The components, which include hinges and inner door structures, are intended for Embraer's 170 and 190 models. Aero's subsidiary Technometra Radotin will supply machined parts.

The contract is estimated to be worth around CKr1bn ($63.5 million). To date, Aero Vodochody has supplied the French firm with subassemblies for two door types. This month, it hopes to begin production for six door types followed by four kinds of hinges next February. Aero already supplies parts to a number of aircraft manufacturers including Sikorsky, EADS and Alenia Aeronautica.

The company has also announced plans to build an industrial unit in Sao Paulo - Rio Grande de Norte, in northeastern B....
