Small venture gets off the ground in Ghana

Aircraft manufacturing firm Wasp Incorporated and Ghana's Ministry of Aviation could embark on a joint venture to manufacture and assemble light aircraft in the country for the local training of pilots.

The aircraft might also be used for air rescue missions, the distribution of relief items and for agricultural purposes, for example crop spraying.

Four of the aircraft have been assembled already in the Eastern part of the country while four more are still being made. Miss Gloria Akuffo, minister of aviation, said the benefits of manufacturing the aircraft locally were enormous since Ghana spent a lot of money training pilots abroad. ....
