Investment in R&D could aid wind design development in UK

Aircraft wing development is set to receive a welcome financial boost in the UK following the announcement that the Technology Strategy Board is to invest £25 million in a research and development program that aims to improve aircraft wing design processes and help to maximise the eco-efficiency of future aircraft designs.

The three-year programme, named Next Generation Composite Wing, will see 17 industrial partners and research bodies - led by Airbus - join forces on the program, which is estimated to be worth a total of £103 million. In addition to the strategy board's contribution, nine regional development agencies and devolved administrations will invest a further £26 millio....
