Aircraft manufacturing industry soldiers on through economic uncertainty with further expansion plans

Despite a tough economic market, the aircraft manufacturing industry is continuing to show signs of growth. US companies Quartz Mountain Aerospace (QMA) and Coffeyville Industries have signed a tentative lease agreement to expand aerospace manufacturing operations.

QMA intends to expand operations in Coffeyville by producing sheet metal subassemblies for the accelerated production of the Model 11E single engine piston aircraft at the manufacturing facility in Altus, Oklahoma. The agreement should allow QMA to expand its manufacturing operations into Kansas.

The company has received airworthiness certificates from the FAA on its first four Model 11E production aircraft and plans to steadily ramp up production, which will include hiring more staff. Spirit Aerosystems has announced plans to....
