Embraer selects Esterel Technologies' SCADE ARINC 661 solutions for interactive cockpit display development
Wednesday, 16 March 2011

Esterel Technologies, the leading worldwide provider of model-based development solutions for critical systems and software, today announced that Embraer S.A., the world's largest manufacturer of commercial jets of up to 120 seats and one of Brazil's leading exporters, has added the SCADE ARINC 661 SolutionsTM, including SCADE Display®, to its existing SCADE Suite® licenses.

Embraer S.A. selected the SCADE ARINC 661 Solutions because this commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) tool will provide the company with a means to define processes that will bring more independence and great control when defining Cockpit Display Systems. The SCADE ARINC 661 Solutions help airframers, CDS developers and UA developers to efficiently create and certify, up to DO-178B Level A, ARINC 661-compliant Cockpit Display Systems and User Applications. The SCADE ARINC 661 Solutions are built on top of Esterel Technologies' market-leading, qualifiable products, SCADE Suite and SCADE Display, which are both used for developing UAs and CDS logic and graphics. Esterel Technologies' vast DO-178B certification experience and support for the certification process will help Embraer to accelerate development and significantly reduce certification costs of their CDS and UAs.

"The SCADE ARINC 661 Solutions tool will allow us to master procedures that will bring greater control over the development of our ARINC 661-compliant CDS and UAs, drive the vendor selection process and validate the final solution. Having knowledge of and control over the entire CDS project will drive down costs. This tool will also allow us to create processes that will enable UA development in house for future aircraft," states Carlos Berto, Program Manager, R&T Systems and Integration at Embraer.

"Airframers, CDS developers and UA developers require a reliable and qualifiable product when faced with the unique challenges of developing for ARINC 661 and DO-178B certification," states Vincent Rossignol, Esterel Technologies' SCADE ARINC 661 Solutions Product Manager. "Market leaders like Embraer can rely on the proven power of our SCADE solutions when making a significant change in their development strategy. We are extremely pleased that Embraer has selected our technology for this important project."
