Fokker Aerostructures will participate in the development and production of the Dassault SMS, the latest business jet program of Dassault Aviation which is planned to enter into service in 2016. Fokker is responsible for the innovative design and the manufacturing of the complete empennage. Engineering teams of both companies collaborate closely together in Paris to optimize the application of the latest generation of composite materials in the design of the tail section. The empennage will feature advanced lightweight solutions involving Fokker's state-of-the-art thermoplastics know-how. Dassault Aviation and Fokker have a longstanding business relationship. Fokker is also responsible for the wing movables of the very successful Dassault Falcon 7X.The order confirms the position of Fokker Aerostructures as a recognized specialist in empennages. Fokker Technologies, as Dutch national aerospace technology champion, collaborates closely with knowledge institutes and SME's and is strengthened by an active Dutch government policy focused on innovation.
Fokker Executive Henk Valk said: "We are proud that Dassault Aviation has selected Fokker to work on the SMS program. This means a high-value flow of work in a state-of–the-art aircraft program with all its associated spin-off benefits. The SMS participation also means a prolongation of the good collaboration with Dassault which we have already enjoyed on the Falcon 7X program"
