Meggitt Sensing Systems introduces general purpose premium noise-treated softline coaxial cable assembly

Meggitt Sensing Systems, a Meggitt group division, has introduced the Endevco® model 3090C-XXX, a premium, noise-treated (low noise) softline cable assembly, offering reliable low and high-temperature operation from -254°C (-423°F) to +260°C (+500°F). The cable assembly is designed for compatibility with both high- and low-impedance Endevco® piezoelectric accelerometers, and other industry models, in support of a variety of general purpose aerospace, automotive, industrial and test and measurement applications.

One of the most commonly overlooked components of an electronic measurement system is the selection of a proper cable assembly to support accurate data transfer between accelerometer and signal conditioner. While engineers spend much time choosing the "right" accelerometer, signal conditioner or data acquisition system, the cable is often an afterthought. And yet, it is widely regarded that no other single component within a measurement system has a more significant influence on the success of a test than the cable itself. The effects of poor cable performance can be devastating to any test setup, in terms of corrupted and unreliable data, costly measurement errors and unforeseen project delays. Recognizing the importance of high-reliability cabling for successful test setups, Meggitt has invested in the development of its own proprietary cable construction methods, all of which are 100% tested for best performance.

The Endevco® model 3090C-XXX (where XXX refers to cable length in inches) 10-32 to 10-32 cable assembly features Meggitt's own proprietary welded center pin design for optimal mechanical and electrical joint strength, with reduced susceptibility to pin pullout. The assembly also incorporates a fused Teflon® jacket for ruggedness and repeated usage, in applications where cable abrasion is anticipated. The cable is also specially treated to guarantee low-noise characteristics and to further reduce the effects of triboelectric noise on signal transmission quality. Incorporating stainless steel connectors (center-pin fused into glass insulator, 10-32 threaded nut); a stranded-wire center connector for maximum flexibility; and high cable pullout tensile strength for increased ruggedness and longevity, the cable is also an excellent choice for high humidity, high temperature conditions.

Meggitt designs and manufactures all of its own cables and connectors for optimal performance in extreme environments. In-house expertise extends to both standard and custom designs, including low-noise, high-temperature and multi-conductor models. All cables and connectors are subjected to rigorous quality assurance testing, ensuring their reliability within the intended application environment.
