ITC provides a tool for all applications at Aero Engineering 2011

Aerospace Engineering 2011 will provide ITC with the ideal platform for the specialist tooling manufacturer to introduce its new cutting tools to the aerospace industry. At the Birmingham NEC from November 9th to 10th, ITC will be highlighting its expertise in the sector on Stand 308a by showing a number of innovations for the machining of aluminium and aerospace grade alloys.

For the machining of aluminium, ITC will show its new 3081 Cyber Series of end mills. Developed in conjunction with leading aerospace manufacturers, the 3081 Series of end mills has been launched to improve performance and productivity for aluminium machining. The 3 flute solid carbide series of end mills incorporate a radical new flute geometry that offers exceptional surface finishes, productivity levels and swarf clearance. The swarf evacuation permits the new series to run at very high feed and speed rates. The straight shank series is available in diameters up to 20mm. With a shank diameter identical to the cutting diameter and an optimal cutting length on cutters with an overall length of 40, 50, 64, 70, 84, 90 and 100mm, the 3081 Cyber Series is extremely rigid and robust for high feed machining.

Alongside the new 3081 Series will be the new 2161 Cyber Series and 2161 Radius Series of two flute end mills for aluminium. Manufactured from ultra wear resistant micro grain carbide, these cutters have a flute geometry that is unique to ITC and enables the 2161 Series to perform at astounding speed and feed rates to generate excellent performance levels.

The square end 2161 Series is available in 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 20mm diameters with identical shank sizes. The overall length ranges from 40 to 100mm with a length of cut for the 3mm and 20mm cutters being 20mm and 40mm respectively, with all additional cutters in the series having a proportionate and optimal flute length. The 2161 Cyber Series with radius is available in 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20mm diameters, with cutters in the series offering the option of 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, and 4mm corner radius.

For the machining of pockets, cavities and difficult to reach surfaces, ITC will show the 2201 Series of two flute long length end mills. The new geometries on the 2201 Series enable it to eliminate vibration and chatter whilst machining at depths up to 60mm at high feed rates. The 2201 Series is available as either a square end cutter or with a radius.

For machining hard steels and aerospace alloys, ITC has launched its new 5021 Cyber Series of 5 flute harmonic end mills. The 5021 Series has been developed for high machining performance machining in the aerospace industry. The solid carbide 5021 is manufactured from ultra wear resistant micro grain carbide that is Cupro coated to enhance tool life and machining stability. Despite having a long length that offers additional reach benefits for the user, the cutters demonstrate stability and rigidity that far exceeds competitor products.

With an overall length of up to 150mm and a cutting length up to 60mm, the 5021 square end series is also available with a range of corner radii to further enhance tool life. The 5021 is available in diameters up to 32mm with radius options of 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.5, 2, 3 and 4mm radius.

Complementing the 5021 series at Aerospace Engineering will be the 6051 Series. Like the 5021 Series the 6051 is a solid carbide, Cupro coated cutter with an unequal flute spacing. With 6 flutes, the geometry of the 6051 Series has been tirelessly tested to provide end users with a long reaching cutter that eliminates problems inherent in long series cutting tools.

Available in 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 20mm diameters, each diameter offering the option of a square end, 0.5, 0.75 or 1mm radius. The various radius options serve to further enhance tool life and eliminate potential chipping in extremely difficult applications. With extensive experience in the aerospace industry ITC will be delighted to highlight the benefits of these cutters and draw stand visitors attention to the vast catalogue of products available that have been manufactured in the UK.

ITC can also modify all tools to meet the specific needs of the end user at its high specification CNC manufacturing facility in Tamworth. Alternately tooling can be tailor made to meet the exact needs of the end user.
