Mecmesin's new money-saving testing systems on show at composites exhibition
Thursday, 8 September 2011

Mecmesin, a British company specialising in force and torque testing equipment, will demonstrate two new testing systems which can help ensure consistency in manufacture and improve productivity at the Composites Show next month.

Mecmesin's new Vortex-xt and MultiTest-xt really can reduce material costs and help achieve lean manufacturing goals. They can be seen on Stand 949 at the Composites Engineering Show in November.

The versatile new Vortex-xt cuts recall costs by improving production line efficiency and reducing wastage. It has been designed for quality control managers who need a simple, accurate, yet rugged, torque testing system for the production floor or QC laboratory.

With the Vortex-xt, static and rotary torque tests are performed at the push of a button and its stand-alone system means that no PC is required, making it ideal for production areas. It's easy to programme and simple-to-use, so there's minimal operator training.

It is the perfect solution for engineers in the aerospace, automotive and medical device industries who need to measure clockwise and counter-clockwise torque when developing and manufacturing rotary components. Typical applications include positive "click " on engagement of aerospace, automotive and medical device controls such as ignition switches, valves and automotive stalks.

Rated to 10N.m, the Vortex-xt completes Mecmesin's range of 3 motorised torque testing systems, which includes the basic Vortex-dand the top-of-the-range Vortex-i computer-controlled test system.

The new MultiTest-xt makes force testing simple. It enables tension and compression tests to be carried out quickly and easily at the touch of a button on samples straight from the production line.

Designed for those in busy production environments who want an easy-to-use test system, without the need for a PC or complex software, the MultiTest-xt is a stand-alone system encapsulating all the elements needed to perform quality control assessments in a robust self-contained unit.

The sealed touch-screen houses a simple user-interface, suitable for any level of operator, from engineers and line managers to quality control specialists. Programming functions, test data and evaluation tools are all accessed via a straightforward menu, enabling quick selection and commencement of tests. For example, in 'quick test' mode, a test can be chosen and started with a couple of taps to the screen.

The MultiTest-xt is available in 7 capacities from low force measurement ranges including 1000N, 2500N and 5000N, up to high capacity twin-column test systems, which include 10,000N, 25,000N and 50,000N.

Mecmesin's product range is versatile and its universal test machines combined with dedicated grips and fixtures can be used to solve a variety of specific test applications including; adhesion/peel, coefficient of friction, compression, flexure, tension and torsion.

Mecmesin is a friendly, family-run British company with more than 30 years experience who can offer on-site installation, training and application support services. It currently employs more than 60 people at its factory near Horsham in West Sussex.

Thousands of companies worldwide use Mecmesin measurement systems to maintain consistency of manufacture to comply with relevant standards and to save money by minimising rejects in the production process.
