The TaeguTec MillRush

TaeguTec launches new mould & die cutters

For highly productive 90 degree milling, TaeguTec has now developed its new MillRush series of toolholders and positive inserts with three cutting edges. This next generation milling line has been specifically developed for general milling applications in the aerospace and mold & die sectors.

The innovative new design is ideal for shouldering, slotting, ramping and helical ramping. With three helical cutting edges, the MillRush improves productivity and reduces costs with a design that is thicker and stronger than conventional two edged inserts. The new inserts have a robust and unique geometry that guarantees high strength cutting. This is complimented by a wiper that delivers exceptional surface finishes. With an extremely high positive axial rake, the new MillRush reduces cutting forces whilst the new cutting edge geometry enhances swarf evacuation.

There are three types of insert available, the 3PK(H)T10, 3PK(H)T15 and 3PK(H)T19. The new designations are available in four types to cater for general purpose machining, stainless steel, aluminium and precision cutting. Each of the new insert types are available in TaeguTec's industry leading grades that include TT7080, TT9080, TT8080, TT7800, TT6800, TT6080 and K10. This wide availability enables customers to machine from 1 to 15mm depths of cut on a variety of materials that include low and high carbon steel, alloy and tool steels, stainless steel Inconel, Titanium, grey and nodular cast iron and aluminium.

The new cutters to accommodate the inserts have an internal coolant supply with a high relief for ramp-down applications. The cutter bodies do not require modifications for insert mounting when using corner radius inserts. Additionally, the new cutters have a unique angled screw clamping system that improves stability. This array of benefits are available on all new cutter types. This now includes an end mill type, modular type and face mill type cutter body.

The end mill cutters are available from 16 to 50mm diameter with a length from 90 to 250mm, offering the option of anything from one to six insert pockets. To complement the end mills, TaeguTec has also introduced a modular system that is available from 20 to 40mm diameter with the option of 2 to 6 insert pockets for increased economy. For heavier and more robust machining applications, a series of face mills is also available. The new face mills range from 40 to 160mm diameter with anything from 5 to 12 insert pockets. Dependent upon size of the face mill, the weight of the cutter bodies can vary from 0.3 to 4.33kg. This variety of options ensures that TaeguTec makes the new MillRush available to as many applications, component sizes and materials as possible.
