Esterline CMC Electronics' PilotView® EFB receives EASA certification for installation by RUAG on Embraer aircraft

Esterline CMC Electronics' (CMC) Class 2 PilotView® Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) has been certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for installation by RUAG on the Embraer EMB-135BJ regional aircraft. The certification covers a dual PilotView EFB installation enabling paperless cockpit operations, including aircraft data, procedures manuals and interactive electronic charts. Embraer selected the PilotView EFB as a standard option for new aircraft production and for retrofits of in-service EMB-135BJ aircraft.

Greg Yeldon, president, Esterline CMC Electronics, noted: "The PilotView is starting to show airlines how to save costs and the certification by Ruag will enable regional airlines to capitalize on cockpit computer technologies to increase fleet profitability".

CMC's PilotView® EFB stays powered during all flight phases and is integrated with a number of aircraft systems, thereby improving application value for pilots, productivity and reducing workload. It features an LED-backlit display delivering enhanced readability in all ambient lighting conditions. The compact, self contained display-processor offers all of the latest processing capabilities available in the PilotView® product line.

RUAG has developed into a major international technology group focused on two market segments: Aerospace (space and aviation) and Defence (security and defence technology). In the aviation sector, RUAG is involved in aircraft construction as well as maintaining and fitting out civil and military aircraft and helicopters.

The PilotView EFB system offers one-touch situational awareness and a best in class, film-on-glass touchscreen for superior readability. Certified for Class 2 and Class 3 usage, PilotView is the electronic flight bag preferred by OEMs. In addition, over 25 STCs are available for the PilotView EFB on aircraft ranging from the Gulfstream GlV/GV, the Bombardier Challenger and Global Express/XRS, to the Boeing 737. PilotView is offered as a standard option by Dassault and ATR, by Embraer for the Legacy 600/650 and E-170/190 programs, by Bombardier for the CRJ700/900/1000, and by Boeing for the Next-Generation B-737s and BBJs.
