Aspen and Avidyne demonstrate DFC90 autopilot integration
Tuesday, 27 March 2012

Aspen Avionics, manufacturer of the innovative Evolution Flight Display, and Avidyne Corporation, a leading provider of integrated flight deck solutions, announced today that certification is imminent for the interface between the Avidyne DFC90 Digital Autopilot and the Aspen Evolution Pro Primary Flight Display, and is expected in the next ninety days.

Initial certifications will be in Avidyne's Cessna 182 and in Aspen's Cirrus SR22, with additional plans to seek installation approval on the Beech Bonanza in second quarter of 2012. The companies will also leverage Aspen's AML-STC of over 900 makes and models to certify the installation on a wider variety of platforms.

"The DFC90 offers significant performance and safety benefits including full-time envelope protection and straight and level capability," says Patrick Herguth, Avidyne's Chief Operating Officer. Herguth adds, "Coupled with the Aspen PFD, this all-digital autopilot and display solution is a very compelling retrofit avionics solution."

"The co-development with Avidyne makes for a very tightly integrated solution that pilots will find intuitive and easy to use," says Aspen President and CEO John Uczekaj. He adds, "Aspen's all solid-state AHRS provides the DFC90 with a robust, reliable attitude source, and combined with all the features and benefits of Aspen's glass panel technology, flying becomes so much easier and safer, especially for single pilot IFR operators."

The software unlock for integrating the DFC90 is priced at $1,995.
