Composites Atlantic Limited and Northrop Grumman sign long-term agreement - F-35 contract
Friday, 14 December 2012

Composites Atlantic Limited is very pleased to announce a multi-million dollar contract with Northrop Grumman for the fabrication of composites parts on the F-35 aircrafts. These parts will be installed on all three (3) variants (CTOL, STOVL and CV). The parts are complex carbon/epoxy structures requiring lay-up, 5 axis machining and Non-Destructive Inspection expertise.

The agreement was signed on November 28th, 2012 at Composites Atlantic headquarters in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada. This contract is an addition to an existing contract for the fabrication of fuselage composites panels, and it reinforces Composites Atlantic ties with the F-35 program.

"We are honored by the confidence that Northrop Grumman is putting into our capabilities and expertise. We are convinced that we will be providing the best support and meeting our commitments to Northrop Grumman. Northrop Grumman and the F-35 Program are strategic for our future," said Mr. Claude Baril, President and CEO of Composites Atlantic Limited.

"We will be installing an additional 5 axis milling center and another NDI station to support this multiyear program. These investments will increase our capacity and strengthen our capabilities," said Mr. Mark Olivella, VP Operation and COO of Composites Atlantic Limited.

Composites Atlantic has been working with Northrop Grumman since 1997 (mainly for the E-2 aircraft). In 2010, EADS Composites Atlantic was awarded a contract to manufacture fuselage panels on the F-35 aircraft.

"The LTA signing strengthens Northrop Grumman's partnership with Composites Atlantic in producing the center fuselage," said Michelle Scarpella, vice president of the F-35 program for Northrop Grumman. "We will work collaboratively with Composites Atlantic and strive for the highest quality and driving efficiencies so we are able to provide the warfighter with the world's most advanced strike fighter aircraft."
