European carpet manufacturer Desso has equipped the cabins of the first four of in total eight Boeing 787 Dreamliners with an especially for 787 developed 100% wool Wilton woven carpet (patent pending). The airplanes are operated by UK-based Thomson Airways, part of international travel group TUI AG. It is the first delivery of the 787 Dreamliner to an airline in the UK and only the second European airline. Desso delivered its popular Wilton carpet with a self-adhesive back, providing maximum flatness and a perfect fit in the airplane's cabins.

Although initially developed for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the self-adhesive backing can now be applied to all carpets that are available at Desso, meaning that it is available in nylon, wool and a blend of 80% wool and 20% nylon, with unlimited design possibilities.

International certification

The new self-adhesive carpet made Desso one of only a few Boeing 787 Dreamliner approved carpet suppliers. This certification is in line with earlier achievements in this regard: in May 2011 the company was certified to the AS 9100 Revision C as the first carpet manufacturer in the world. Desso is therefore fully AS 9100, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified.
