Aero delivers first set of Airbus A321 fuselage panels
Tuesday, 27 May 2014

AERO Vodochody Aerospace and AleniaAermacchi signed a contract for the delivery of Airbus A321 fuselage panels in January 2013. Aero has successfully implemented the production and today it delivers the first set of panels. Each panel is 4.3 metres long, the whole 14a fuselage section is 4.14 metres long and 3.95 metres wide and is located just in front of the aircraft wings.

AleniaAermacchi is the producer of A321 14a fuselage section and AERO is one of its two suppliers of fuselage panels. Aero plans to deliver around 20 sets of fuselage panels this year. In 2013, Aero created 300 new jobs also thanks to A321 program.

A321 is the biggest aircraft of Airbus A320 family, the fastest selling airliners in history. A321 entered into service in 1994 and can accommodate up to 220 passengers. Since 2004 two Airbus A321 aircraft are in service of Czech Airlines.

AleniaAermacchi is part of Finmeccanica group. Its production includes C-27J Spartan transport aircraft, used by national air forces of Italy, United States, Lithuania, Greece, Mexico and other countries. The Czech Army also considered purchase of this aircraft. Except of its own projects, the company participates also in many international projects of the biggest aircraft producers as Boeing, Airbus or Sukhoi. This contract is not the first cooperation of Aero and AleniaAermacchi. Since 2007 Aero produces centre wing box for Alenia C-27J Spartan.
