Plexus commemorates new manufacturing facility and celebrates contributions to aerospace & defense industry
Friday, 1 August 2014

Plexus Cop. today commemorated the recent completion of its $50 million state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Neenah, WI, which contains the new Plexus Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing Center of Excellence. Plexus held the event in conjunction with the Second to None Coalition, an ongoing effort by the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) to preserve America's role as a global leader in the aerospace and defense industries. AIA President and CEO Marion Blakey was the keynote speaker at the event.

Representatives from industry-leading aerospace and defense organizations as well as city and state government officials attended the event, which included a tour of the recently constructed 410,000 square foot facility in Neenah. This site is one of the largest electronics manufacturing facilities constructed in the United States in recent years. At full capacity the facility could employ more than 2,000 skilled and talented workers. Currently, Plexus is hiring over 100 new positions for the facility to add to the current workforce of over 1,000 team members.

Todd Kelsey, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Plexus, commented, “Plexus has made a substantial investment in America's manufacturing future right here in Wisconsin. When planning and constructing this new facility we made a conscious decision to make this site the home of our new Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing Center of Excellence. This facility further enables our ability to provide the highest quality engineering and manufacturing services for our customers; doing our part to strengthen the American aerospace and defense industries. We are proud of our dedicated and passionate employees and our supportive local supply chain partners in the Great State of Wisconsin.”

Marion Blakey, President and CEO of the AIA, commented, “AIA congratulates Plexus on the opening of this new manufacturing facility. Their investment in this Center of Excellence for aerospace and defense manufacturing is a testament to their commitment to maintaining the strength of the aerospace and defense industry in America's heartland. The highly skilled men and women that work here are critical to our industry's future success. We look forward to engaging their energy and enthusiasm through our Second to None Coalition grassroots efforts to bring home the message that our industry is a vital national resource.”

Dean Kaufert, Mayor of the City of Neenah, commented “Plexus has played a vital role in the Neenah community and the greater Fox Valley area since its founding more than 35 years ago. What makes Plexus unique to other large global organizations is that they are committed to keeping their roots and presence within Wisconsin. They provide valuable jobs for our citizens and continue to make a positive impact to the City of Neenah and to the State of Wisconsin.”

Plexus has made a commitment to maintaining a strong manufacturing and engineering force in Wisconsin. It is proud to support more than 1,600 full-time jobs within the state, and continually looks for ways to give back to its local communities.
