Holt Integrated Circuits announces new SPI discrete-to-digital sensor
Thursday, 4 September 2014

Holt Integrated Circuits announced today a new discrete-to-digital sensor IC. The HI-8428 has eight programmable sense channels, which may be individually configured as GND/Open or Supply/Open (28V/Open) sensors.

The HI-8428 is compliant with Airbus ABD0100H and has fixed GND/Open thresholds of 4.5V/10.5V respectively. Open/Supply thresholds are fixed at 6.0V/12.0V respectively. In GND/Open mode a 1mA wetting current is sourced from the sense input to prevent dry relay contacts. The digital circuitry operates from a 3.3V supply, with the analog circuitry operating from a 12V to 16.5V supply.

All sense inputs are internally lightning protected to RTCA/DO160G, Section 22 Level 3 Pin Injection Test Waveform Set A (3 & 4), Set B (3 & 5A) and the latest Set Z (3 & 5B) without the use of any external components. Holt is one of the few component suppliers that test to the more stringent lightning requirements for new composite body aircrafts. The HI-8428 is a drop-in replacement for the DEI1282.

“This new product further expands Holt's extensive discrete-to-digital family” said George Noh, Director of Sales and Marketing at Holt. “Superior lightning tolerance and drop-in compatibility gives our customers an easy choice”.

The device is available in a 16-pin, narrow body SOIC with exposed heat pad. Samples are available upon request.
