TE Connectivity's black zinc nickel plating approved for adapters

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity, announces the approval of new RoHS-compliant black zinc nickel “Z” plating for AS85049 adapters /82 to /90. AS85049 is a military specification for connector accessories designed to work with military connectors like those built to MIL-DTL-38999. 
“This solution helps our customers reduce cadmium usage and provides enhanced performance,” said Daniel Redmon, Product Manager, TE Global Aerospace, Defense & Marine. “The black zinc nickel plating is approved as defined by MIL-DTL-38999L, and offers the same level of electrical performance, harsh environment protection and temperature ranges as cadmium finishes.” 
The AS85049/82 - /90 adapters feature side-entry band straps, making them easier to install and repair, and providing high-reliability under vibration due to the self-coupling locking nut. The adapters are offered in straight, 45-degree and 90-degree formats. 
TE's approved products include adapters and band straps for M85049 (/88-90) Code 40, Code 41 (/85-87), and Code 54 (/82-84) in all three angles in cadmium-plated and electroless-plated aluminum. Also included are narrow 1/8 inch (/128-7 and 8) and ¼ inch (/128-1 to -4) bands. This product is designed to work with MIL-DTL-38999 Series III and IV, MIL-DTL-38999 Series I and II, AS50151, MIL-DTL-26482 Series II, SAE AS81703 Series III, and MIL-DTL-83723 Series III. 
These adapters and band straps are ideal for internal and external cables assemblies within the aerospace and marine markets, as well as in military ground vehicles and space-based systems.
