New cartridges featuring Blaxx indexable inserts with Tiger.tec Silver cutting material technology are now available for the F2010 face mill available from tooling giant Walter GB. The result is an adjustable axial runout face mill that offers up to 30 per cent higher feed rates.
Of flexible cartridge construction, Walter's F2010 is supplied in diameters from 80 mm up to 315 mm and because the axial runout of the inserts can be adjusted with micron precision, the cutter can be used for fine finish finishing, among other applications.
Blaxx inserts are offered either as the L55T universal geometry or as L85T, which has particularly sharp cutting edges for low cutting force applications on aluminium. The inserts are available in three sizes.
Walter's renowned Tiger.tec Silver inserts feature a surface treatment that significantly reduces the in-cycle machining stresses of both wet and dry applications, due to its balanced combination of a high level of toughness and maximised hardness.
The CVD-Al2O3 grade coating counters any influence from thermal shock that can lead to thermal cracking at the cutting edge and minimises tribochemical wear on the flank face. These are key areas that can lead to premature insert failure.
