Shimifrez expands engineering services to aerospace, medical sectors
Friday, 10 April 2015

oronto area-based Shimifrez Inc., provider of micro, thin metal manufacturing, has expanded its engineering services to the aerospace and medical equipment sectors in Canada and other global markets.

The Canadian owned and operated, AS9100 Revision C standard and ISO 9001:2008 registered company, specializes in fabricating precision photo etched of thin sheet metal components.

"For the growing aerospace and medical equipment sectors, photo etching eliminates the cost of hard tooling, improves design flexibility and shortens lead times while eliminating burring and stress problems," says Shimifrez's president Hassan Nojoumi.

Shimifrez manufactures flat/gimbal springs, encoder discs, evaporation and sputtering grid/masks, lead frames, battery grids, strain gauge elements, screens, shadow masks, fuel cell plates, heat sinks, diaphragms, shutter blades, rupture discs, fluidic plates, reticles, drive bands and shims from 0.0005" (0.01mm) in variety of metals.

"Flat as well as 3D step etched surfaces can be precisely etched to tight tolerances through photo chemical milling," adds Nojoumi. "Our unique processes accurately etch holes and slots on a wide range of materials." The minimum hole diameter and spacing between holes can be 1.5 times the material thickness.

"Our average lead-time for manufacturing is two weeks, but expediting services are also available. We've been in the photo etching and metal electroforming business for many years, so we know how to make custom parts quickly, accurately and affordably," says Nojoumi.
