Cirrus Aircraft takes off with Fiorano
Wednesday, 25 March 2015

Fiorano Software today announced that Cirrus Aircraft, a recognized leader in general aviation, has deployed the Fiorano platform to enforce new IT architectural standards to scale its engineering and manufacturing processes.

"At Cirrus Aircraft, we are building our next generation processes in support of our new and exciting Vision SF50 Jet product line," explains Jim Pichler, IT Systems Integration Architect at Cirrus. "These re-engineered processes leverage best of breed applications and the re-vamped industrial engineering processes required a comprehensive integration solution of commensurate caliber."

Cirrus needed a centralized solution to enforce new architectural standards to avoid point-to-point integrations, giving a solid enterprise service bus technology. It needed to reduce the time taken to implement new integrations and make changes to existing ones.

"We required a robust, enterprise class solution which could be deployed quickly and Fiorano fit the bill very well for us," said Mr. Pichler. “We needed a highly available, performant solution that can scale as our Vision SF50 Jet moves from certification to production and we begin volume manufacturing. We particularly liked Fiorano's easy-to-use IDE, allowing our developers to be efficient within the eclipse-based toolset. The out-of-the-box setup for high availability went without a hitch, free of any burden in terms of complexity and maintenance. Fiorano's pre-built connectors allowed us to rapidly implement integration requirements. We are now fully implemented with a publish/subscribe mechanism that will help us scale and respond with speed and agility as the re-engineered engineering and manufacturing processes continue to evolve, and as new ones drive additional integration requirements," he added.

With Fiorano's "citizen integration" capability, the ability to perform lightweight, easy-to-use integration, Cirrus was able to seamlessly implement all its integration requirements, significantly enhancing developer productivity and compressing time-to-market.

As a mid-sized company, Cirrus wanted flexibility and options in purchases and it went with a Subscription based (SaaS) model for the Fiorano deployment. “Fiorano's feature footprint is exactly what we need for a price point that was competitive," concludes Mr. Pichler.
