New solar protection solutions and vip IFEC solution for business aviation
Tuesday, 28 April 2015

As a world leader in solar protection systems offering tailored solutions to the aeronautics market, Vision Systems will present its new motorized shade for two windows, Twin Comfort-Shade, as well as its latest Electronically Dimmable Windows innovations, most particularly its dimmable sun visor, Opti-Visor, and its touchless-controlled dimmable window, Nuance Touchless. Vision Systems will also exhibit its cutting-edge wireless IFE system on PEDs dedicated to business jets.

Twin Comfort-Shade comes and completes Vision Systems' range of motorized shades. Vision Systems' motorized passenger shades are available with smooth or pleated fabrics, single or dual screens, for one or two windows. They feature a silent, fluid motion and a quality fit and finish. These long-life products include advanced motorization with brake, manual unlocking and anti-jamming devices. The integrated electronics allows easy installation and maintenance, and they are lightweight thanks to foamed casing. Another particularity of these solutions is the synchronization of the shades, which reach the bottom all at the same time or by zone. Moreover, they are ready for the eventual integration of a dimmable window.

Vision Systems is also recognized for its Electronically Dimmable Windows (EDWs) that provide the passengers with improved visual and thermal comfort, protecting them from the sun while preserving the view. They offer a sleek, elegant design adapted to the VIP style of business aviation and convey a peaceful atmosphere. Based on SPD technology (Suspended Particle Device), they are instantly dimmable from clear to dark to reduce light, glare and heat entering the aircraft. They also contribute to keep the interior cooler as they block up to 95% of incoming heat, do not produce heat when powered, and are at their darkest possible state when the aircraft is on the ground. These solutions also block more than 99.9% of UV light which protects the interior from fading, and their multi-layer fabrication allows noise reduction to keep the cabin quieter. Furthermore, these systems have no moving parts as the electronics is fully integrated, which reduces maintenance costs and downtime.

Vision Systems' EDWs can be controlled from a touch panel directly on the window, a control panel or a wireless tablet. Besides, the EDW system interfaces with any Cabin Management System.

Vision Systems' EDWs are now available in multizone, in different colors and tints to tailor responses to the requirements of the customers, and also include a window or partition solution for complete privacy (clear to opaque white). The self-powered Electronically Dimmable Window Energia will also be featured at the show. This wireless solution produces its own energy from the sun thanks to transparent photovoltaic cells integrated into the glazing which allows energy storage in a battery to provide the dimmable window with electricity.

Opti-Visor is one of Vision Systems' new solutions. It is a dimmable sun visor for the cockpit featuring 3 buttons directly on the polycarbonate: +, - and Auto, meaning that the pilot can choose either to have an automated management (with an integrated light sensor) or can control the tint directly by simply pushing the + or - buttons. Opti-Visor operates without any wiring thanks to an integrated battery that is rechargeable. Furthermore, it is easily removable.

The other innovation, Nuance Touchless, is the world's first dimmable aircraft window controlled without any contact between the finger and the window. On the multizone solution featured at EBACE, the passengers can set strips from the clear to the dark position, one after the other and from the top down like a Venetian blind, just by approaching their hand near the window and moving it upward or downward. To dim a standard dimmable window from clear to dark, the passengers would have to move their hand sideward to set the desired level of opacity. This new concept confirms the willingness of Vision Systems to remain at the forefront of innovation and to offer ready-to-install solutions.
