International deployment of a revolutionary French technology in the area of composite materials

MIPNET, the parent company of JTT Composite has signed a licensing agreement with the international manufacturing group Senior plc for the use of its RT2i process.

JTT Composite, a French SME specialised in the design and manufacture of composite aeronautical parts, based in Bordeaux-Mérignac, today announces the signing of a licence agreement with UK engineering group Senior plc for the use of its revolutionary RT2i process.

Senior will start by using the RT2i process to manufacture low pressure air distribution systems for aerospace applications at its Senior Aerospace BWT facility in the UK, a sector in which it is a global leader. This application of the technology aims to reduce both the cost and weight of these systems.

A true example of disruptive technology already used in Dassault Aviation's Falcon business jets, the RT2i manufacturing process comprises two key operations:

- the automated manufacture of 3D dry textile reinforcements in Kevlar, carbon, or other types of fibre;

- the impregnation of these reinforcements with thermoplastic matrices or thermosets.

Compared to standard lay-up technology, RT2i is a disruption first and foremost from an economic standpoint: the automation of the 3D modelling processes obviates the need for heavy and costly equipment, such as cold rooms, cutting tables and autoclaves.

This agreement marks a decisive step in the global dissemination of this particularly innovative and competitive French technology, developed by JTT COMPOSITE.

The licensing agreement will improve SENIOR AEROSPACE's penetration into the high-growth market of global aerospace composite materials, and provide JTT COMPOSITE with additional financing to develop new applications of its RT2i technology.

With this agreement, JTT COMPOSITE breaks new ground in its development by marketing, in the form of a license, its technological know-how to the world's aerospace manufacturing giants.

JTT COMPOSITE will also maintain its own production unit in Bordeaux-Mérignac to cater specifically to French aerospace programmes.

Furthermore, more industrial agreements are being considered for the next few months to accelerate the RT2i technology's penetration into other markets (boating, rail and energy).

The new RT2i process will complement the existing 'Ultra-Light Weight Air Management Systems' products that lead the way in the Regional & Corporate Jet Market.

This newly combined capability will support growth in ducting and structural applications, and further expansion into the Large Commercial, Defence and Helicopters market segments.”
