PRESS RELEASE
Issued by:

BMT Aerospace and AET have created a joint venture named AMT-Titastar
Tuesday, 26 May 2015

AMT‐Titastar is taking advantage of the recognized know how of the BMT group in manufacturing flight critical parts in hard metals, combined with products developed by AET using the advantages of additive manufacturing titanium 3D printing.

This combination permits us to bring to the aerospace market newly developed innovative products as advanced smart drilling machines and enhanced additive manufacturing capabilities.

Smart Drilling Machines:

A new range of smart drilling machines have been designed, developed and optimized for complex stack up of a wide variety of both hard and lightweight materials as titanium, carbon, aluminum, etc... .

Thanks to the use of additive manufacturing, the 3D printed titanium smart drilling units (patent protected) have an excellent and unique strength versus weight ratio. Real time monitoring is offered to guarantee full traceability and an extremely high process quality. The electrical low voltage power unit and dedicated NC controller are powerful, compact and safe to operate. The drilling Unit is capable to adjust and to optimize speeds to each individual material of any stack up.

Advantages of these newly developed drilling machines are numerous and substantial. Reduction of the production cycles by up to 70%, maintenance costs reduction of 80%, less use of consumables and even more important a reduction of non‐conformities due to the high reliability of our systems.

Additive Manufacturing – Titanium 3 D printing:

Since the smart drilling units are having most of its structures made with titanium additive manufacturing, AMT‐Titastar has specialized in metal 3D printing with the EBM technology which is considered the most productive as of today.

The company has invested in a first EBM machine, which will be followed by more as the production is growing.

By mastering the specific design for 3D printing, the finish manufacturing and the applied coatings, AMT Titastar is offering sophisticated printed parts for the aerospace industry as individual parts or through BMT Aerospace as part of a bigger sub‐assembly.
