TTTech releases AeroQ – a tool to speed up validation of heterogeneous aerospace networks

TTTech, the technology leader in robust networked safety controls, now offers AeroQ, a powerful and easy-to-use software tool that fully supports aerospace customers along the entire communication platform lifecycle. The DO-330-qualified tool creates verification reports that count as essential credit towards certification of the aircraft's communication design. Supported standards by AeroQ include ARINC 664 p7 (AFDX), ARINC 429 and ARINC 825 and it comes with tool qualification data packages signed by a Designated Engineering Representative (DER). For ARINC 664 p7 AeroQ supports all of TTTech's products, provides end-to-end latency analysis and formal proof of determinism – a key requirement for obtaining verification for an aircraft production program in the civil aerospace market.

The functionality of AeroQ targets two different scenarios, namely network analysis and verification. Analysis can be performed at any phase of a project – as early as during the initial network design and the requirement definition period until the final implementation phase. The capability for end-to-end latency analysis of heterogeneous networks (including gateways), the ease-of-use as well as the formal proof, provides an ideal virtual development environment for aerospace customers. This makes AeroQ highly useful in the initial stages of the design process as early recognition of design faults is of great value to all customers. As an example, the cost of correcting errors found in the last phase of a project is significantly more expensive than revising the error during the design and requirement definition period.

The DO-330-qualified AeroQ performs formal verification of heterogeneous aerospace networks in minutes. The resulting verification report counts as credit towards DO-178C certification. Therefore customers will save time and associated costs during the entire project lifecycle by deploying the DO-330-qualified software that comes packaged with tool qualification documents signed by an official Designated Engineering Representative (DER). The TTTech team is currently working on adding additional aerospace standards to be supported by the AeroQ tool, such as SAE AS6802, i.e. Time-Triggered Ethernet.

Ingomar Wenzel, Aerospace Product Manager at TTTech, says, “With this powerful tool we complete our offering by providing a full range of products and services required for series production programs that need the verification and certification of all hardware and software components.”

Evaluation of AeroQ on a real-life customer projects for a large transport jet has shown that using the software allows the customer to shorten the project schedule by many months and save several man-years of engineering efforts. This translates to a multi-million dollar direct cost savings during a single project thanks to the highly advanced DO-330-qualified validation and verification tool AeroQ offered by TTTech.
