Emergency Beacon Corporation introduces their 406MHz emergency locator transmitters
Friday, 17 October 2008

Emergency Beacon Corporation of New Rochelle , New York is proud to announce the introduction of their new line of 406MHz emergency locator transmitters.  The complete line includes transmitters for fixed wing craft, rotor craft and special transmitters to meet the needs of the military.

Emergency Beacon Corporation, founded in 1968, is one of the world's leaders in emergency locator transmitter manufacture with about 100,000 units in the field.  The company qualifies as a small business which is woman-owned and operated.

In February of 2009 the Search and Rescue system will stop processing the 121.5MHz signals that it receives.  Instead the new digital signal on 406MHz will be used for alerting and activating the Search and Rescue system while the 121.5MHz signal will be used as a homing signal.  Emergency Beacon's new emergency locator transmitters will transmit a digital signal on 406.028MHz and a homing signal on 121.5MHz.  The transmitters are approved by COSPAS/SARSAT and meet FCC requirements.  They also are approved under TSO-C126.

The complete line includes Automatic Portable (AP) transmitters for cabin/cockpit installation and Automatic Fixed (AF) transmitters for mounting in the tail of an aircraft.  The AF units require a panel mounted Remote Control Monitor.  Both AP and AF units are also available with a proprietary 720˚ helicopter activation system that has proven itself in the field since 1982.

The new transmitters measure 6.7" x 2.9" x 2.5" and weigh 2.5 lbs (with battery).  They are powered by lithium manganese dioxide batteries.
