ThyssenKrupp further expanding production and logistics capacities at its Varel location

ThyssenKrupp Aerospace, a company of the business area materials services, is further expanding production and logistics capacities at its Varel location. This year, the aviation experts of the thyssenkrupp Group are expected to move into an additional production and logistics building for the manufacture, storage and transshipment of aircraft components at the Aeropark. Garbe Logistic AG, investor and project developer, has already started work on the some 4,400 square meter logistics facility.

"At Varel we supply a comprehensive line-up of materials and materials-processing services for Premium AEROTEC, extending from the just-in-time delivery of processed metals to the kitting of finished parts," explains Hans-Josef Hoss, Management Board member of thyssenkrupp Materials Services GmbH, who adds, "Following the extension of the of the contract in June 2015 for the takeover of supply chain management over the next decade, the expansion of the production and logistics capacities is an important step in order to cope with rising customer demands and further optimize Premium AEROTEC's processes."

The combined production and logistics building at Aeropark in Varel in the German district of Friesland is the extension of an already existing property. The Aeropark, situated diretly on a commercial and industrial area close to the A 29 motorway, is in immdediate proximity to the plant of aircraft manufacturer Premium AEROTEC.

Premium AEROTEC is one of the world's leaders in the development and manufacture of structures for commercial and military aircraft. At its facilities in Augsburg, Bremen, Nordenham, Varel and Braşov (Romania), Europe's leading aircraft supplier manufactures state-of-the-art aircraft structures for the entire Airbus family using aluminum, titanium and carbon fiber composites (CFC). Premium AEROTEC is also making a key contribution to the development and manufacture of the A350 XWB. Furthermore, the company supplies components for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the Eurofighter and the A400M.
