Australian Minister for Defence Marise Payne officially opens Thomas Global Systems' new Electronic and Embedded Systems Innovation Hub

Thomas Global Systems welcomed the Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, to their Sydney Headquarters on 4th March. Minister Payne officially opened the Company's new Electronic and Embedded Systems Innovation Hub [EESI-Hub], a new Centre of Excellence which will be the focus of Thomas Global's internal R&D and New Product Development initiatives. The new EESI-Hub facility is designed to optimise the conceptualisation, development of concepts and integration of innovative applications in commercial aerospace and defence sectors.

Minister Payne's visit highlights the importance of Thomas Global System's role within the defence industry and its position as a growing Australian defence business. The Company is a recognised leader in the development, integration and support of specialist electronic systems for mission critical applications across military land, sea and airborne environments and has built a solid reputation in the industry as a result of high performance solutions and strong investment in key research areas. Thomas Global Systems' defence products and solutions are used on platforms around the world, ranging from armoured vehicles to advanced aircraft.

During the site visit, the Minister met with members of the Thomas Global Systems' Advisory Board and employees and discussed the role of innovation within the Company. Angus Hutchinson, CEO, said: “We are pleased to welcome Minister Payne to Thomas Global Systems at such an exciting time in the growth of the defence area of our business. Her visit highlights the strength of our position as a leading national player in the defence industry. This new facility underscores that innovation and research are at the forefront of our business.”

Industry views the new white paper as an excellent framework for Australia's defence posture over the next 20 years. Thomas Global has been proud to support the ADF for more than 40 years and looks forward to providing specialist capability to support the high technology future platforms the ADF plans to acquire”.

About the New Thomas Global Systems EESI-Hub

The new EESI-Hub facility will enable Thomas Global to become even more responsive in converting innovative research concepts from their team, university partners and industrial alliances into a technological edge for their global customer base. The facility will provide a dedicated platform to develop and showcase innovative embedded systems and Next Generation digital signal processing technology. Developments already in progress include High Resolution Digital Biocular and Direct View Displays for armoured vehicles, symbolic generation of aircraft data streams for layered representation of future mandated cockpit display annunciations such as ABS-B and RNP, and Sunlight Readable Display technology for application in outdoor operated environments like UAV operator stations or ship bridge consoles and dashboards. The EESI-Hub concept is closely aligned with Thomas Global's vision of delivering practical innovation to front line operators.
