SLCA receives a second contract to supply composite airframe components for Embraer
Monday, 17 November 2008

Aircelle's SLCA subsidiary has received an order from Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer to produce composite tail components for the Legacy 450 and 500 business jets.

This new contract – which is SLCA's second business agreement with Embraer – covers the design and the production of rudders and elevators for the Legacy 450 and 500. It follows an order announced in July for SLCA's manufacture of composite parts used in the cockpit of the Embraer 170/190 regional airliner family, as well as rear fuselage components for the Phenom 100 business jet.

"Embraer's latest selection of SLCA is another validation of our company's ability to design and manufacture high-quality composite aerostructures for the world's largest aircraft manufacturers," said SLCA CEO Laurent Schneider-Maunoury.

The Legacy 450 and 500 are twin-engine aircraft that fill the mid-range portion of Embraer's business jet product line. Embraer is targeting the Legacy 500's service entry in the second half of 2012, followed by the Legacy 450 in the second half of 2013.

SLCA has been an industrial expert in composite materials for 25 years, and its business activities focus on the project management, design and manufacturing of complex composite aerostructures.
