Aerospace manufacturing flies high in August
Monday, 26 September 2016

The UK's aerospace industry enjoyed a busy August as aircraft production rates rose 12 per cent on the levels achieved a year earlier. Year to date delivers are just one per cent behind the record levels we saw in 2015. Industry is focussed on stepping up production in response to growing order backlogs, which currently stand at 13,402, worth £210bn to the UK.

Single-aisle production levels increased 23 per cent compared with August 2015 and indicates a smooth transition to the new fuel efficient aircraft demanded by airlines. Engine deliveries are also up on the previous year with a rise of 11 per cent for August 2016.

Paul Everitt, Chief Executive of ADS Group, commented: “Aerospace is essential to the economic and industrial well-being of the UK; it continues to generate growth and new business opportunities. Despite some uncertainty across the global economy 2016 looks set to be another year of good performance and strong demand.

"The great work being done by the Aerospace Growth Partnership and the strong support for industrial strategy by the Prime Minister continues to make the UK one of the best places for the aerospace industry to do business. In the run up to the Autumn Statement ADS will be asking the Chancellor to provide the incentives and support to overcome any uncertainties associated with the decision to leave the European Union."
