GMI Group joins the front lines of aerospace manufacturing
Tuesday, 18 October 2016

With a substantial expansion to its already comprehensive quality management processes, GMI Group has achieved both the AS9100C and ISO 9001:2015 certifications several months ahead of schedule. By adhering to this new set of strict quality management system requirements for aviation, space, and defense organizations, GMI Group continues to prove their uncompromising quality-driven commitment to providing the best possible products in the industry.

"Our team has worked very hard to transfer our technical expertise in the oil and gas space into precision turning work for the aerospace market," said David Moore, President and CEO of GMI Group. "We have worked diligently to not only earn our AS9100 and ISO 9001 certifications, but also to increase the speed of delivery and guarantee the exceptional quality of our first compliant parts."

In addition to updating their quality management system, GMI Group has built a special work center dedicated to aerospace manufacturing. The company's turning capabilities are now aligned to help address the nation's growing need for new helicopter parts. GMI Group aims to assist with The Future Vertical Lift initiative, which has the goal of replacing the aging helicopter fleet of the United States Armed Forces over the next 40 years.

"We are at the forefront of growth in helicopter manufacturing and are ready for the challenge to supply machined parts," says Regional Sales Director Akil Bacchus. GMI Group now manufactures major airframe assemblies and smaller components, including brackets, bearings, and gears for aerospace applications. With the fabrication of these new parts, the company can help its clients reduce costs and improve delivery performance.
