A&G invests more than £1 million in new capacity
Monday, 15 December 2008

Aerospace components manufacturer A&G Precision and Sons Ltd will go into 2009 with vastly expanded capacity following investment in plant and facilities topping £1 million.

Based in unique premises incorporating a 19th century windmill close to Lancashire's Fylde Coast, A&G Precision is a key supplier to major military aircraft programmes including Hawk, Harrier, Nimrod and Typhoon.

Over the past 18 months, the Preesall based company has invested £750,000 in new five-axis machining capacity and a major factory extension.

Investment will continue during 2009 with the addition of further CNC capacity with the arrival of a second Herco five-axis machining centre and a further Mazak twin-spindle turning centre.

The move will double the company's five-axis capacity, which is supplemented by a bank of three-axis machining centres handling a comprehensive range of aerospace metals from aluminium and high grade steels to titanium.

Although the core of A&G business is firmly in the aerospace and defence sector, it also has the expertise to handle contracts in a diverse range of industries where precision-engineered components are required, including oil & gas, rail and motorsport.

Established 20 years ago A&G remains a true family business and is managed by founder Arthur Pinder and his sons, Mike and Scott, who have recruited a highly skilled team of local engineers.

Operating at the heart of the North West's aerospace sector provides A&G customers with a flexible and responsive service. Capable of round-the-clock operation where necessary, A&G offers rapid turn round for AOG (Aircraft on Ground) incidents where replacement parts are required urgently to return aircraft to service. It also recently introduced a stockholding facility for large run components required on a regular basis.

Comments Arthur Pinder: "The additional capacity and larger premises are all part of an on-going investment programme designed to provide the flexibility, quality and capability necessary to maintain our position within the supply chain.

"It also provides the opportunity to broaden into other areas of aerospace and defence manufacturing."

In addition to the manufacture of high precision, complex components, A&G also provides sub assembly capability.

The company operates ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 quality systems in addition to key customer approvals, including BAE Systems, Aircelle, Brookhouse Aerospace Ltd, AIM Aviation (Jecco) Ltd and Page Aerospace.
