Wineman Technology, Inc., a leading test solutions company, today announced its new CANalytics software. The new platform provides an interface to maximize the benefits of CAN bus hardware, particularly for automotive and aerospace applications where it provides a durable network that supports communication between multiple electronic control units (ECUs).
On CAN networks, devices are equipped with controller chips to allow them to see, filter, and prioritize messages. Traditional CAN analysis tools created to provide an interface and automate devices on the network are extremely extensive and subsequently expensive. Because much functionality often goes unused and the tool is needed during only a portion of development, the cost of an advanced platform is difficult to justify. The new CANalytics platform from Wineman Technology makes all the benefits of CAN accessible in one cohesive application with a CAN interface as a standalone executable.
Easily Import and Export Files From Multiple Hardware Platforms
R&D and test organizations use CAN to simulate an ECU and test resulting signals. With the new CANalytics platform, R&D or ATE engineers can develop custom applications through a fully featured interface, and use that interface to integrate automated processes. The CANalytics platform includes a CAN database and editor.
"With CANalytics, we're offering tools to engineers that were previously only available from proprietary sources and worked with a single hardware platform," said Matt Eurich, President of Wineman Technology. "CANalytics comprehensively addresses CAN diagnostics and automation so engineers can maximize the data available from their CAN network through an easy-to-use platform."
Also unlike other CAN interface platforms, CANalytics will work with a variety of CAN hardware, reducing overall test system cost. It currently supports NI-XNET and Advanced Vehicle Technologies AVT-853 hardware, and Wineman Technologies plans to add support for additional hardware platforms over time. The platform:
Supports import/export of .DBC files
Supports import/export of XML definition databases created with NI LabVIEW
Includes a LabVIEW API
Simulates an ECU from a CAN perspective as defined by the database file
Collects and catalogs bus traffic to trace windows and log files
Sends outgoing messages to a specific bus
Views all CAN traffic on a specific bus
Can be automated by any program/scripting language that can make a TCP connection and serialize/de-serialize JSON data
A Proven History of Off-the-Shelf Test Systems
As a leader in the design and development of test equipment, Wineman Technology combines dedicated engineers, the latest technologies, and state-of-the art equipment to solve critical testing challenges across a spectrum of applications.
Wineman Technology believes open, adaptable platforms are critical to the long-term success of clients' test investments. The company's systems are designed by customizing the latest off-the-shelf hardware and non-proprietary architectures, ultimately providing solutions that are cost-effective and more easily maintained.
The CANalytics platform comes on the heels of Wineman Technology's TestTracker Data Management Software, released in August. The test lab management software serves as a tool for managers and project engineers who rely on efficient and accurate testing in R&D by managing and prioritizing incoming requests, assigning accurate tests, delegating those tests to the appropriate testers, collecting streamlined data, and sending results to the necessary stakeholders, all from a central location. Both products support Wineman Technology's goals to help engineers automate systems and gain the most efficient use of their hardware, ultimately helping customers create better technology and products for their industries.
