Avior Integrated Products, a privately-held aerospace manufacturer of integrated, lightweight flight structures, has announced a long-term contract with Boeing for the production of hybrid composite duct assemblies used in the 787-10 Dreamliner. Avior's team of engineers worked together with the Boeing Canada Winnipeg engineering team in the product design and development phase of all tooling for this project.
This work statement will leverage the company's fabrication and assembly capabilities with advanced composites, metallic details and wiring harness integration. Avior's design engineering and product development skills provide customers a wide range of engineering, manufacturing and integration services.
In recognizing exceptional employee focus on customer service, Avior President and CEO Stephen Kearns said, "We are very pleased to broaden our participation on the 787 Dreamliner program, as we continue to value customer collaboration and practical, innovative problem-solving. The work will take place at all three of our production facilities in Quebec."
"This new 787-10 Dreamliner work for Avior both meets our business needs and further expands the Canadian aviation industry's role for Boeing Commercial Airplanes," said Kim Westenskow, general manager, Commercial Airplanes – Canada Operations and managing director, Boeing Canada. "The 787-10 has received significant orders from top customers, signaling continued confidence in the Dreamliner family, which as a whole has accumulated over 1,200 orders."
This contract for the 787-10 Dreamliner is aligned with Boeing's almost 100-year history of partnering with Canada and the company's long-term commitment to work with Canadian industry. This contract was awarded to Avior based on their capabilities and competitiveness, including how this work will support fulfillment of Boeing's commitment to Canada's Industrial & Technological Benefits (ITB) policy. Boeing has completed on time or early more than US$7.4 billion in such benefits and is on track for an additional US$2.2 billion.
