HCL Technologies, a $7B global IT industry leader, has just announced the release of DFMPro version 5.0. On a global average, 30% of product development time is spent on rework – designing a product first, then optimizing it later to meet downstream manufacturing requirements. DFMPro is engineered to help designers check their designs for manufacturability and assembly and correct these problems early in the design stage.
The latest update to this CAD integrated solution supports the latest Creo Parametric version 4.0 and offers a path-breaking functionality for "Real Time Analysis" providing quick and instant feedback to design engineers with live recommendations from DFMPro as features are created or modified. Real Time DFMPro will provide real time feedback to designers, translating into quicker collaboration, which in turn results in rework savings and improved productivity. It will also support complete model analysis via the standard DFMPro workflow.
Version 5.0 also gives additional power to designers who are interested in traditional processes such as Die Casting, Sheet Metal and Injection Molding. Packaging new algorithms along with enhancements to some of the existing ones are sure to give more power to designers for DFM validation. New die casting rules added for ribs and boss features will help in reducing manufacturing defects and increasing strength, surface finish, and overall life of parts.
