Solumina Production Control packaged composite application achieves "SAP® xApps™ Certified" status, Solumina G6 achieves "Powered by SAP NetWeaver®" status
Thursday, 8 February 2007

iBASEt announced today that it has released a new product, the Solumina Production Control packaged composite application version 60.1, which has achieved "SAP xApps Certified - Powered by SAP NetWeaver" status. It runs on the SAP NetWeaver platform and is built on top of Solumina's Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). iBASEt achieved SAP certified integration by demonstrating that Solumina Production Control meets all of the technical and business criteria established by SAP AG for its SAP xApps Certified status.

In addition, the latest generation of the Solumina MES (Manufacturing Execution System) product, Solumina G6, has achieved "Powered by SAP NetWeaver" status. To achieve this qualification, iBASEt has demonstrated that Solumina G6 can be successfully deployed on a J2EE-based deployment of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server Release 6.40 and is accessible via the SAP NetWeaver Portal. This deployment has been tested and certified by the SAP Integration and Certification Center.

"Solumina has implemented its solutions integrated with SAP solutions in over 25 facilities in the Aerospace and Defense industry and the number is growing rapidly. We are focused on keeping our products compatible with SAP solutions," stated Conrad Leiva, VP of Product Marketing for iBASEt. "Composite applications allow us to provide innovative functionality seamlessly across several SAP applications and iBASEt's MES product. Users can access the Solumina Production Control composite application directly from SAP solutions without having to navigate many screens or logon to a separate shop floor system to perform everyday functions."

The Solumina Production Control packaged composite application streamlines response to issues like engineering changes and part shortages with real-time actions across ERP and MES systems. Personnel can put work on hold on the shop floor and determine where engineering changes will cut in. When responding to part shortages caused by supplier delays or quality issues, personnel can track progress of internal work centers or external suppliers, and expedite alternate vendors or acquisition of alternate parts if necessary.

"SAP xApps Certified solutions such as Solumina Production Control from iBASEt enable continuous business innovation and provide customers with the flexibility to respond quickly and profitably to business change, while leveraging and protecting existing IT investments," said Kevin Ichhpurani, global vice president, Business Development and Strategic Alliances, SAP. "By certifying solutions that complement the SAP xApps family of composite applications, we continue to deliver to our customers innovative and flexible solutions built on SAP NetWeaver that provide end-to-end business processes for solving concrete business problems."

Additionally, iBASEt has embraced the SAP NetWeaver platform and will continue providing enhanced integration and innovative solutions that expand on the best-in-class capabilities of both SAP solutions and Solumina products.

Frank Heinrich, iBASEt CTO, remarked, "Solumina's JEE architecture and SOA roadmap match-up nicely with SAP's vision for SOA. The Solumina G6 JEE transaction layer is very portable. In addition to supporting SAP NetWeaver, we can also deploy on other popular JEE application servers. The new packaged composite application scratches the surface of what can be achieved on top of the new SOAs."

The SAP NetWeaver platform powers the mySAP™ Business Suite family of applications, SAP xApps packaged composite applications, and solutions such as Solumina Production Control and Solumina G6. SAP NetWeaver unifies integration technologies into a single platform and is pre-integrated with business applications, enabling change and reducing the need for custom integration.

Through SAP xApps Certified status, partners and ISVs like iBASEt deliver on the promise of enterprise SOA following the principles and standards of SAP's composite architectural guidelines. Composite applications that are certified by the SAP Integration and Certification Center reuse, integrate and orchestrate functionalities from existing application assets in the context of an enterprise SOA, with only selective development of new functionality where needed to fill gaps. A composite application provides new application functionality, supports analysis followed by action (other than mere read-only views), and enables the execution of business processes from start to finish. It has the potential of repeatable deliveries to multiple customers.
