Representatives from 81 countries, 3,000 visitors gather for Aerospace Testing, Design and Manufacturing Show 2009

The seventh annual Aerospace Testing, Design and Manufacturing Show returns to Munich, Germany this week – drawing together some 3,000 engineers, buyers and suppliers from 81 different countries.    Over 200 companies have booked exhibition space, underlining this event's popularity as a key aerospace engineering fixture.

"At a time of global economic uncertainty securing such a large number of professional people together in one place to network and maintain business dealings is testament to the value of this specialist show," said Exhibition Director Jonathan Heastie, for organisers UK-based Reed Exhibitions.   "This demonstrates that this industry must continue to work pro-actively."

Reed Exhibitions has worked with its partners – including BavAIRia and the exhibition venue, the Messe, to implement a range of new initiatives to help buyers and suppliers meet each other to increase their business activity.   These include a series of technology trails to help buyers quickly locate the right solutions to meet their needs;  a schedule of networking events with senior engineers from the leading manufacturers, and an evening Reception to be hosted on Wednesday 22 April by the State of Bavaria, represented by Vice Minister Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology Katja  Hessel and Deputy Assistant Under Secretary Karl  Schumacher.

On the exhibition floor a number of highlights are on display,  courtesy of the German Air Force, ESG & MTU Aero Engines.  These displays, located in the central Special Feature Zone, include a static mission avionics test helicopter which allows testing under 'real' flying conditions and, a full size model of the TP400-D6, an advanced military engine developed by MTU in conjunction with ITP, Rolls-Royce and Snecma Moteurs, which will feature on board the all new Airbus A400M.

"Serving the aerospace engineering community remains at the heart of all of our activities at Aerospace Testing, Design and Manufacturing Expo, and this year we play host to a number of new and exciting initiatives  that will deliver improved value to this community," added Jonathan.    These include technical presentations from 70 experts covering  the breadth of aerospace design, testing and manufacture.

Part of an ongoing programme to tackle the skills shortage within aerospace engineering, is the popular return of the Show's 'Engineering Students Programme' which takes place on Wednesday, directly connecting the future talent in aerospace engineering with the HR departments of key organisations within the industry.   Some 19 companies have registered to meet with student visitors to talk with them about potential career opportunities.   This will be complemented by two student tours around the show to the relevant booths between 11am and 2pm on Wednesday  expected to attract between 300 and 500 student visitors from various universities including the Technischen Universität München and the Universität der Bundeswehr.

For our more established engineers we have also introduced a career focus to the show, providing job seeking visitors of every age and experience with the opportunity to meet with prospective employers seeking new talent to strengthen their business.
