Heads Up Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of electronic solutions for general aviation and commercial aircraft, has developed and qualified the Aural Warning Generator (AWG) for the Sikorsky H-92TM helicopter that is under development in support of the Canadian CH-148 Marine Helicopter Program (MHP). Production deliveries for the AWG are expected to begin in late 3rd quarter, 2009. Sikorsky is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).
The AWG for the H-92 helicopter is fully redundant, capable of three simultaneous audio alerts -- one voice and two tone alerts -- based on information received from two redundant data concentrator units via an ARINC 429 databus. The 1.5 lb-unit supports multiple message tables for different aircraft configurations, male or female voices, foreign languages, tones, chimes, and mission specific warnings in high fidelity digital audio. The hardware and firmware are qualified to RTCA DO160E and RTCA DO178, Level C, respectively.
"We are pleased to have been selected by Sikorsky to develop the AWG for the H-92 helicopter," said Rob Harshaw, President/CEO for Heads Up. "Heads Up has worked closely with Sikorsky engineers and test pilots to deliver a highly reliable system which will enhance the flight crew's situational awareness," he added.
