Safe Flight to supply Speed Control System on Quest Kodiak

Safe Flight Instrument Corporation, the world's leading manufacturer of aircraft lift instrumentation and control systems, will supply the Speed Control System for the Quest KODIAK.   

Safe Flight's Speed Control System will provide Stall Warning and a Fast/Slow indication through a heated wing mounted Lift Transducer and lightweight computer.  This next generation Stall Warning System will optimize the aircraft's performance throughout the flight profile and supply information to the flight crew not previously available in this market segment. 

Safe Flight's Speed Control System will be certified for Flight Into Know Icing (FIKI) conditions.   The output from the computer will be integrated into the Primary Flight Displays and an optional Fast /Slow Indexer will be available. As a standalone system the Speed Indexer is mounted on the glair shield and gives the crew a Fast/ Slow indication. . 

The Kodiak, a 10-place single engine turboprop utility airplane, designed for STOL use and float capability is the ideal platform for the Speed Control System.  The KODIAK can take off in under 700 feet at full gross takeoff weight of 6,750 lbs and climb at over 1,500 feet per minute. 

In recent flight tests using Safe Flight's Speed Control System, aircraft performance was significantly increased by flying the Speed Control System.  "Flying Speed Control enabled me to land the aircraft, come to a complete stop and take off again in an astonishing 750 feet," said Quest chief test pilot Kenny Stidham.

"We designed an aircraft with modern STOL characteristics for high performance backcountry applications, an airplane that could thrive in the most inhospitable places on earth.  Every knot over speed means more runway for rollout. The Speed Control System is so essential for this mission."

Awarded the esteemed Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Award for General Aviation Product Innovation of the Year, Safe Flight's Speed Control System is optimal for today's high performance single and twin engine aircraft.  The system can be retrofit to an existing fleet with minimal flight testing required if the airframe is currently equipped with a Safe Flight wing mounted Stall Warning system.  The optional standalone AoA Indicator and Fast/Slow Indexer offer a variety of installation options.  The small packaging and lightweight computer has the capability to integrate with the most advanced glass cockpits on the market.
