High performance coatings in convenient aerosol packaging
Wednesday, 2 August 2006

In another first, Akzo Nobel Aerospace Coatings (ANAC) is packaging high performance aircraft coatings into convenient, easy to use, two-component aerosols.

The aerosol pack's unique design separates the base component from the curing solution. A simple activation step mixes the two components, preparing the product for use.

The aerosol unit utilizes advanced technology to produce a high quality finish similar to that expected from an HVLP spray gun- far better than the results normally achieved with traditional aerosols. "This product will simplify and improve the quality of aircraft touch-ups, increase the longevity of a paint job, and ultimately reduce the total cost of maintaining the appearance of a fleet," commented John Griffin, General Manager, ANAC Americas.

ANAC currently packages Mil-PRF-85285, Mil-PRF-23377, and BMS 10-72 coatings in the two-component aerosol units. Each can is capable of touching up 12-20 square feet of surface area, saving time normally needed for mixing and clean-up, and minimizing waste. The aerosol, says ANAC, is the perfect touch-up tool, capable of producing invisible repairs, even on special-effect mica liveries.

After a very successful launch in the Americas, ANAC will review demand in other parts of its global market.
